Clemson University to upgrade 20-year-old ERP system with Workday
Clemson University has announced that, for the first time in more than 20 years, it will move to a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, and has selected Workday as its new provider.
The South Carolina-based research university will overhaul its ERP system with Workday Financial Management, Human Capital Management and Strategic Sourcing to streamline its finance and HR operations for its faculty, staff and student workers. Clemson University will partner with Deloitte to implement the new system.
According to the university, the new ERP system, dubbed Workday@Clemson, will be a mobile-friendly application that will have self-service functionality for users to enter time, submit requisitions, manage personal information and run reports, among other business processes.
“Workday@Clemson represents a transformative investment that supports the University’s continued growth and strategic priorities while accelerating collaboration, innovation and efficiency,” said Clemson University Academic Affairs and Provost Executive Vice President Robert H Jones.
“This announcement marks a significant operational change for us to achieve long-term goals and to propel Clemson’s success and further strengthen our reputation, which is already among the nation’s best.”
Acknowledging that Workday@Clemson will help create more efficient, data-driven processes, Clemson Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Tony Wagner added: “Once implemented, Workday@Clemson will allow us to focus our attention on the frontline, faculty – and student-facing work so important to the land-grant mission of Clemson and the bold initiatives of Clemson Elevate.”
As next steps, Clemson will work with Workday and Deloitte to engage the campus community, including campus user groups that will participate in design, testing and training development for this university-wide initiative. Wagner said he expects that Workday@Clemson will be fully implemented in the next 24 to 36 months.
“Campus leaders are seeking flexible solutions that deliver accurate and timely insights to help drive institutional excellence and support their evolving needs,” Workday Higher Education General Manager Michael Hofherr said.
“At Workday, we are honoured to partner with Clemson University to deliver solutions that are vital to their success, and we look forward to our partnership, now and in the future.”
