HPE claims AI will ultimately cure dementia

Speaking at a press event in London yesterday, HPE’s SVP & Managing Director for the UK, Ireland, Middle East and Africa claimed that HPE and AI will help “cure” dementia.

“The German Institute for Alzheimer’s Research have been using swarm learning, an AI learning technique developed by HPE that leverages memory centric computing on HPE’s AI systems,” said Matt Harris.

“This has enabled hospitals to keep patient data secure, while privately sharing learnings with other teams around the world,” he added. “This will genuinely accelerate early detection, prevention, and ultimately the cure for dementia.”

He concluded: “This is AI at scale, working across borders and institutions to build a better future for all of us.”

HPE’s growing partnership with Nvidia

Matt Harris was speaking at a UK event that brought together all the company’s announcements made at HPE Discover 2024, held in Las Vegas last month.

This included a notable moment when Nvidia Founder, President and CEO Jensen Huang signed an HPE server with the words to the effect that HPE was Nvidia’s best partner.

“We announced at Discover… [the] Nvidia AI Computing by HPE portfolio,” said Harris, “to help enterprises capitalise on new AI opportunities and address the unique challenges of AI.

“We will have the biggest joint go-to market strategy with Nvidia the world has ever seen. We are aligned from engineer to the CEO… and will be delivering a powerful and unique experience around Nvidia’s AI software and computing.

Harris singled out HPE’s Private Cloud AI offering, developed in partnership with Nvidia.

“The first of its kind, turnkey private cloud solution for the enterprise. It is the deepest integration to date of Nvidia and HPE technologies. It is… a ready to run, out of the box, simplest experience for deploying the Nvidia and HPE stack in the industry.”

Harris added that, live on the Discover showfloor, HPE proved that enterprises could start deploying AI workloads on HPE Private Cloud AI in 28 seconds.

Key takeaways from HPE Discover 2024

It’s telling that HPE declared there were five key takeaways from HPE Discover 2024, almost all of which involved Nvidia:

  • Nvidia AI Computing by HPE, its new co-developed portfolio of AI products
  • The portfolio marks a significant expansion of HPE’s partnership with Nvidia
  • Initial offering is HPE’s Private Cloud AI
  • This is a first-of-its-kind solution that delivers a full-stack private cloud to accelerate enterprise AI adoption
  • It’s enabled by HPE GreenLake cloud and offers a “differentiated cloud experience” including manageability, observability and sustainability insights for workloads
