Optus partners with Devo to launch 24/7 threat-monitoring service

Optus has partnered with US-based security data analytics firm Devo Technology to launch a 24/7 automated managed threat monitoring service for enterprise and mid-market customers.

According to Optus, the new service will leverage Devo’s real-time analytics, AI and intelligent automation tools through the Devo security data platform to provide real-time visibility of potential and emerging network threats. The service also integrates security information and event management (SIEM); orchestration, automation, and response; and behaviour analytics.

The telco said the service will operate alongside the Optus network operation centre and security operation centre, allowing it to provide “additional layers of protection to customers’ cyber ecosystem”.

“We know how critical cybersecurity continues to be and the importance of continuing to invest in new technology particularly as the threat landscape continues to evolve,” Optus delivery, enterprise and business VP Danny Price said.

“Optus partners with many of the best security vendors in the world to ensure our enterprise customers have the support they need to act quickly and identify threats.”

Optus said the addition of the new service marks its commitment to further invest in expanding its security offering, a particular priority area for the telco since the company fell victim to its own infamous data breach in 2022.

The partnership comes as cybercrime reports in Australia increased by 23% year on year during the 2022-23 financial year, according to the Australian Cyber Security Centre.

“As the global threat landscape continues to expand at an unprecedented pace, it’s critical that organisations have the right technology, people, and processes in place to combat cybercrime and keep their businesses safe,” said Devo APAC VP Nicky Choo.

“By partnering with Optus, a leader in Managed Security Services in Australia, our shared customers can maximise the Devo Security Data Platform and have peace of mind knowing that a team of experts is dedicated to helping them achieve their security goals.”
